Hunter S. Thompson

Dead Dude Write No More, Shoot No More.

Hunter Thompson shot himself Sunday. A shame. Though he had a good run, as good as any get. His writing meant a lot to me. And others.

The New York Times has a special on him today, including past reviews of several of his books.

Hasmer Hill Posted by Hello

I spent 4-H summer camp at Hasmer Hill Camp some thirty years ago.

Laughery Valley Ent Posted by Hello

Down the lane that still is asphalt under leaf and moss, along the ridge that dives down to the backwaters of the dammed confines of Laughery Creek, stand a group of silent watchers. Wolf Oak and Elephant Beech. Grapevine twist ten inches across. Follow the power line that veers to the ground. Old fence and enamel pot not far around.

Bradshaw Cemetery Posted by Hello

A great day in the woods. Saturday Ab and I hiked the northwest section of Versailles State Park. Out towards Osgood you can find the Hasmer Hill road. With some meandering we came to a new park gate. Just inside the park is the Bradshaw cemetery. It is a lonesome place atop the steep ridge that is Hasmer Hill.
